AVAILABLE TO SHIP JANUARY - MARCH
The Blood Orange is a variety of orange with crimson, blood-colored flesh. The striking dark flesh color is due to the presence of anthocyanins, a family of polyphenol pigments common to many flowers and fruit, but not common in citrus fruits. They look similar to Premium Navels from the outside, but the inside flesh is a brilliant dark pink, maroon, or dark "blood" red color. Along with their amazing color, blood oranges tend to have a very distinct, tart, floral, raspberry flavor--that is less tangy than standard oranges. They tend to be easier to peel than other oranges, and often have fewer seeds.
